Trustee recruitment
Radical and ground-breaking John Feeney (1839 - 1905) personally championed the arts and heritage both in his life and death. As the founder of the Birmingham Daily Mail and the proprietor of the Birmingham Daily Post and the Birmingham Weekly Post, he demonstrated immense civic pride for the city and foresaw and supported the cultural powerhouse it continues to become.
Nowadays, the John Feeney Charitable Trust is led by a committee of business, arts and heritage professionals who proudly continue this legacy.
As of December 2024, we have completed a phase of extensive recruitment, and our latest intake puts the current number of Trustees at our maximum level. We are, however, always open to making new connections with people who are interested in becoming prospective future Trustees, as and when new vacancies arise. You are most welcome to submit an Expression of Interest at any time, telling us more about yourself by addressing these key prompts:
Your background, including any current or recent experience that you feel is especially relevant to helping you become an effective Trustee;
Why supporting the cultural life of Birmingham is important to you;
What contribution you feel you could bring to the Trust;
A recent arts, heritage or open spaces experience which has made a significant personal impact on you, and what that impact has been — this can be anything from your regular walks around a local park to the Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony — it doesn’t have to be something that the Feeney Trust has funded!
You can submit your Expression of Interest in one of three ways:
Written — no more than one page of A4 (suggested font — Arial 11pt) — saved in .docx or .pdf format
Audio — no more than five minutes in length — saved in .mp3 or .mp4 format
Video — no more than five minutes in length — saved in .mov format
We do not need, and so you should not provide, CVs, LinkedIn profile links, professional references or examples/evidence of your work.
Send your Expression of Interest (along with your contact details) to Katie Banks, Trust Administrator, at admin@feeneytrust.org.uk. Katie will contact you to acknowledge safe receipt and to let you know the most up-to-date information on any immediate future recruitment plans.
