Big Brum’s production of ‘The Clearing’ toured into Secondary Schools in Autumn 2023. The story, written by Chris Cooper, unfolds in a forest clearing over several weeks, after an ecological crisis has brought about the breakdown of society. Big Brum’s production offered time and space for young audiences - many of whom would not otherwise experience professional live theatre - to explore the struggle for place and belonging when living in a broken world. The tour began on 10th November 2023 and finished on 19th December. The actors worked alongside 427 young people during 19 performances in 15 venues (eight in Birmingham) plus a day’s filming.
